I have a client who is in his late fourties and has mild CP. He had surgeries to release spasticity in one of his gastroc. mucscles as a child. Would contract relax stretches be more appropriate than static stretching? His right side is weaker and he tends to walk with a bit of a hip hitch and on the toe.

I would like to know of anyone has dealt with this. How did you deal with it? What tests did your child have to go through? Does your child have to take meds? Does your child require therpy? surgery? Please give me advice on this subject. I really want to be prepared.

took my 7 yr old to the dr to go over her recent MRI. She always complains of headaches. As the new dr (neurologist) is going over her medical history, I asked her could her headaches have any thing to do with her horrible hand writing (that is slooowly improving). after doing a complete neurological exam, she states that my daughter is a bit weaker on her right side, (she is right handed) goes into telling me the head ache meds that she is putting her on, then says ” she didn’t tip toe as a baby did she?”. Yes, Yes she did. We thought it was the cutest thing! She didn’t walk until 15 months old, and was a little speech delayed in younger toddler years. we assumed it was because she was 6 weeks premature. The doctor said well i think she has a very mild case of cerebral palsy. I was stunned, ive seen cerebral palsy before and that wasn’t what i was expecting. She said when you come back in 3 weeks we will work on OT for her. Left the room. HUh what?? what can i expect? what resources are available to her if this is in fact her final diagnosis?
