toys for an infant with cerebral palsy ?
March 2, 2011 in Questions

My niece is 5 months old ( she will be 6 1/2 when Christmas rolls around) she has cerebral palsy. My husband and I want to get her some kinda of toy. I know people are going to suggest paying for something or making a donation. We talked to her mom about and she wants us to treat her like a normal child. We wouldn’t pay for other things or make a donation for our other niece so… a toy it is. But becuase she does have Cerebral Palsy i don’t want to get her a cute gift that she wont ever use. Her name is Grace so maybe something that ties in to that. My husband and I cant spend a ton on her becuase we do have a daughter and another niece but if the gift is a great idea we may be willing ( besides you can only spoil your nieces so long before theirs moms put there foot down.) thank you.
Thanks for the Star idea, its a good one.
We dont know what she is cable of right now. I know she can move her arms. She has hip displacea so she cant move her legs at least for now. She has been in the hospital for the past 2 months with pneumonia and dehydration from the hospital she was at and she is now finally at home. She has had 3 surgery’s for her feeding tube so she has been in the hospital most of the time. When i saw her yesterday it was the first time she fallowed me with her eyes so i know shes not blind and they recently figured that out. Its really an unknown right. Its the first time in her life that she is not in pain and relaxed so we are just really learning what she can and cant do.
Gumbo, im so sorry for your lost. My neice is amazing she so little but has shown so much strenght. Her mom said she liked music so I may burn her a few CDs and maybe get her a CD player thank you.
Hannahs mommy- those toys are great. I really like the winkel so i think thats a good one. and if she does hit her self its a soft rubber and it wont hurt.
